(For paddlers with minimum 1 year of dragonboat experience)
Welcome!
Entering its 11th season, DaBoat, is intended for experienced paddlers who are dedicated and looking to advance their paddling skills. This team consists of 26 paddlers wanting to experience more competitive racing. DaBoat has great spirit and a lot of fun on and off of the boat! From social night outs, eating together after practice, organizing pot luck for races and taking over ice cream trucks at regattas, it's a fun summer experience you won't want to miss.
Individuals with at least one year of dragon boat paddling experience are invited to apply.
If you find that your interests have been peaked with a previous beginner team, come out and join us for the season. Our season will consist of three regattas, including: Milton, Toronto Center Island, and Hamilton.
A half-hour warm-up session at Sunny Side Pavilion will take place prior to each practice.

Practice Expectations and the Dreaded Late Policy
You are expected to come to practice all the time. Make it your priority. If you do miss practices or if you're going to be late, just be sure to let us know. Every time you do miss a practice you will be subjected to "the rules."
The Rules:
- If you are late when we dock, we leave without you.
- If we start warm ups and you're not there, you're late.
- If you are late or absent too often, you will be cut from the team. The exact penalties will be discussed at the first practice.
Exceptions:
1. Deaths
2. Horrific Accidents etc.
Organized Pot Luck
If you join the team this year, then as a paddlers you will participate in the Organized Pot Luck, which is mandatory. Failure to do so is punishable by death! Also, you it will be highly frowned upon by your fellow paddlers! Remember. Food is an important part of our culture.
So WHAT is an organized potluck?
Every regatta our chefs (roughly 8 volunteers from this team, per race) will come up with a menu, all items will be divided and costs (roughly $10-15 per person) will be distributed evenly. Your job once you select an item from the menu will be to find that item and bring it to the regatta.
I can't cook what do I do?
If YOU can't cook. President's Choice can!
FAQ
Q: Do I have to buy my own equipment?
A: You can if you want, but all basic lifejackets and paddles will be provided for you free of charge at all races and practices. Typically, paddlers on this team are encouraged to have their own gear.
Q: What do I need to bring to practices?
A: You should definitely bring a change of clothes and wear anything but cotton. Sport sandles or paddling shoes would also be good. And a few bottles of water and a quarter (25c) for the lockers at sunnyside. For practices in April and early May, paddling gloves are also highly recommended to keep your hands warm in the cold water.
Q: My schedule this season is uncertain, should I sign up?
A: Dragon boating is a team sport. It relies on a commitment from the entire crew to make the season a successful and fun experience. Although certain circumstances occur that dictate our decisions to miss practices or races, consider your future plans and if you know for certain you will miss a lot of practices and races consider an alternative team with less committment in Paddlers Anonymous.
Q: How do I know if this team is right for me?
A: Based on the team description, if you find your self still uncertain, feel free to contact Sandra (Captain) or Juan (Manager) with any further questions.
Check out the 2008 Season Slideshow (YouTube) or the 2009 PA Slideshow (divX file).
Q: Are there hidden costs to the dragon boat season?
A: Organized Pot Luck Cost, Parking Costs, Optional Paddle Equipment Costs.
